FOSSWire.org: A Zero-Ad Autonomous News Telegraph for Open Source and Open Hardware
Score —The architecture of FOSSWire (fosswire.org), an autonomous news and technical analysis platform that rejects commercial ad networks, surveillance trackers and clickbait, focusing on the Linux kernel, RISC-V open silicon and the FOSS ecosystem.

Summary: Technology publishing has become full of ads, tracking and clickbait. In this article I introduce FOSSWire (fosswire.org), which I built as an alternative: ad-free, tracking-free and clickbait-free publishing principles, a news engine that scans Linux kernel, RISC-V and open hardware sources, its open JSON API, and the news strip on ozanozdil.com.
Modern technology publishing faces a serious structural crisis. The pure technical sharing and engineering curiosity of the internet's early days have been replaced by clickbait focused on page view counts, third-party tracking scripts that try to profile the user step by step, and aggressive commercial ads that occupy every corner of the screen.
For developers, kernel programmers, embedded systems engineers and open hardware designers, this situation is a serious source of cognitive noise. A critical patch in the upstream Linux kernel, a new ISA extension in the RISC-V architecture or a schematic update in the open hardware world is either lost in the algorithm-driven priorities of commercial media or torn from its context with sensational headlines.
Designed to offer a radical and deterministic alternative to this chronic problem, FOSSWire (fosswire.org) has begun publishing. FOSSWire is a 100% ad-free, tracker-free, clickbait-free and autonomous news and technical synthesis telegraph centered on the open source software (FOSS) and open hardware world.
Core Publishing Principles and Philosophy
Unlike a commercial publishing organization, FOSSWire operates on strict ethical and engineering principles:
- Zero Commercial Ads and Zero Sponsored Content: The site hosts no ad network (Google AdSense, Taboola, Outbrain, etc.). None of the content is steered by companies' marketing budgets.
- Zero Surveillance and Zero Tracking: Third-party analytics tools, cookie walls and user fingerprinting scripts are never used. Every visitor consumes the pages completely anonymously.
- Zero Clickbait: Headlines directly reflect the technical truth. "Gallery" or "continued on the next page" layouts that mislead the reader to generate page views have no place on the platform.
- JetBrainsMono Typography: The reading experience is presented with a monospace typographic hierarchy (
JetBrainsMono Nerd Font) that maximizes eye comfort and a zero-emoji rule.
System Architecture: Autonomous Core and Edge Computing
FOSSWire rises on a multi-layered and autonomous engineering chain:

1. Open Signal Compilation and Verification
The news engine periodically scans upstream Linux kernel trees, OSHWA-certified hardware schematics, RISC-V working groups and official announcements from open software foundations. The collected technical data is cleansed of algorithmic noise and synthesized along three main axes:
- Summary (Executive Summary): The technical core of the development.
- Architecture and System Analysis: The concrete changes it brings to the kernel, hardware or software architecture.
- Ecosystem Impact: The consequences it creates for the open source ecosystem and developer independence.
2. Open API and Client Independence
FOSSWire data is not presented only as a web page; it is also opened to use by other open source tools in the ecosystem:
- REST/JSON Endpoint: The latest 200+ news items can be fetched in raw JSON format via
https://fosswire.org/api/v1/news.json. This endpoint provides a direct feed for desktop tools (QuickNews, Omarchy panels, etc.) and Android clients. - AI and Agent Compatibility: Through
llms.txtand semantic indexes, autonomous AI research agents (Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, etc.) index the sources in the cleanest form.
ozanozdil.com Integration and Scrolling Ticker
To make the FOSSWire ecosystem more visible and keep a real-time pulse on the open source community, a FOSSWire scrolling news ticker bar has also been integrated directly into the ozanozdil.com homepage:
- Positioned right below the top navigation bar, this bar automatically pulls the last 30 developments from the
fosswire.org/api/v1/news.jsonfeed. - On the left there is a fixed FOSSWire label and a live signal indicator; on the right, news headlines flow as a smooth band.
- When hovered over with the mouse, the flow stops and a direct link is provided to the source page of the relevant analysis.
Sustainability of Independence
The server, edge distribution and AI synthesis API costs of such an infrastructure, which accepts no advertising or corporate sponsorship, are covered entirely by community support. Readers who wish to support independent engineering journalism can use the direct support channels on the platform.
The future of open hardware and free software depends on the strengthening of open, transparent and auditable information channels that do not surrender to commercialized attention traps. FOSSWire is a concrete and uncompromising engineering step taken in this direction.
My reading
- Editorial principles fixed from the start: FOSSWire has no ad network, sponsored content, third-party analytics or clickbait headlines.
- Source, primary announcements: The news engine scans core trees, open hardware schematics and foundation announcements and presents each development with summary, architectural analysis and ecosystem impact headings.
- Data open to everyone: Alongside the web page, news is also published as JSON; desktop tools and other projects can use the same feed directly.
